PRAYER OF CONFESSION
We remain standing if we are able and pray together the words below.
Merciful God,
you have given us life, time, abilities and resources,
and you invite us to share in your care
for the world you made and love.
That invitation is a gift,
and we confess that we do not always treat it as one.
We are moved more by fear than by faith,
more by our own comfort than by your promises.
Forgive us for the fear that holds us back,
and for the comforts we put first.
By your Holy Spirit, take away our fear and heal our selfishness,
that we may use what you have entrusted to us
to serve our neighbours
and bring honour to the name of Jesus.

Everyone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ is invited to share at His table. For those worshipping with us in the building, the bread and non-alcoholic wine will be distributed in the pews. Please take a piece and pass it on to your neighbour. The bread in the glass dishes is gluten-free. When you have received the bread and the wine, you are welcome to eat and drink prayerfully in your own time, giving thanks to God.

Welcome to worship in Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church. Whether you join in person or online, come every week, are here for the first time or the first time in a long time, a very warm welcome.
This service is live-streamed. Should you not wish to appear in the recording, please speak to our welcome team.
You’ll find tea, coffee, juice, ready for you after the service in the Church Centre. We’d love for you to stick around for a cup of something warm and a good chat.
Today we celebrate Communion together. All are welcome at the Lord’s table, whether this is your first time with us or you’ve been coming for years. In the building, the wine is non-alcoholic, and gluten-free bread is available in the small glass ramekins. Whether you choose to take communion or not, please pass the elements along to your neighbour. For those joining us from home, you are warmly welcome to participate too. Have your own bread and wine or juice ready, and we will share in this together regardless of the distance.
Need help? Look for anyone wearing a lanyard; they’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
WHAT’S ON TODAY
The Creche is open from the start of the service and can be used at any point during the service. Please ask at the door for more information.
Pastoral care meeting. After worship, in the Church Centre. This meeting is for everyone already involved in pastoral care (aka the Visitation Team formally), for those who have recently signed up, and for anyone who would like to join us. If you have been wondering whether this is something for you, please do come along and find out more. Mhairi will be there to answer any questions.
WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
Westblend! Come along to the West Halls in Bellshill from 10:00 am every Tuesday for coffee, tea, cakes, toast and great company.
Bothwell Memory Café: meets every Tuesday in our Bothwell Centre for those living with dementia from 12:30 to 14:15, offering tea, coffee, a light lunch, and homemade baking.
The Bothwell Art Exhibition is in the Church Centre in Bothwell from Saturday 12th till Sunday 13th. Please go along and support this great exhibition, and who knows, you may see some familiar names hanging on the walls!
Cuppa and a Question Come along to the Manse, (4 Manse Avenue, Bothwell) for tea or coffee and the chance to ask anything you would like to about the life of our congregation. Members of the finance, communications and pastoral teams, along with the Kirk Session, will be on hand. If you helped with the recent Open Church, this is also your opportunity to tell the Kirk Session how you found it. Choose whichever date suits you best:

Buy your Hogmanay tickets – £10, £5 for children
See in the Bells with us! Live music, a ceilidh, and a floor waiting for you. Doors open at 20:30 at the West Halls, first dance at 21:00, last dance just before 01:00. Bring your own drinks (alcoholic or soft) and snacks, and bring your family and friends along for a night of fun as we dance our way from one year into the next. Tickets £10, available from Mary and Graham, who will be wearing lanyards or email hogmanay@bbcofs.org.uk.
CAN YOU HELP? Thank you to everyone who has supported the youth bags financially. Your generosity has allowed us to fill the bags with so many blessings for children of all ages.
One thing we are hoping to add, and to share more widely, beyond the bags, is crochet fidgets. They never run out of battery, they make no noise, and they don’t pollute the earth. These are a great outreach tool for us to give to children with a wee message attached to them. The pattern is available today at the door. If you have the skill to crochet and some spare yarn, please make as many as you are able in whatever colour or colours you want.
