Order of Service Sunday 25th October

October 22, 2026

ORGAN PRELUDE

WORDS OF WELCOME AND NOTICES

CALL TO WORSHIP

As we gather, we come as people of the cross and resurrection.

All: We come as children of the Father.

We come reconciled by grace through the Son.

All: And filled with God’s love through the Spirit.

One God, who has made us one.

All: How good and pleasant it is when God’s people dwell together.

HYMN CH4 454                                                    A Safe Stronghold our God is Still

PRAYERS OF APPROACH & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

ALL AGE TALK

HYMN CH4 359                                         He came down that we may have love

Children are welcome to stay in the hall. Busy Bags of Blessings and books are available by the doors at the back. Please feel free to worship in whatever way feels right for you.

1st BIBLE READING                                                                                        John17:20-26

2nd BIBLE READING                                                                                               Psalm 133

HYMN CH4 624                                    In Christ There is no East or West (McKee)

SERMON

PAUSE FOR REFLECTION

We pause to pray in silence and spend time with God while we listen to the music.

OFFERING DEDICATION However we give, whether by standing order, by cash at the door, or electronically via the QR code or contactless machine, we offer it all to God.

We have the means to give,

We have the reasons to give,

And there are many waiting for us to give.

Yet so often our hands close,

And we hold tight to what was never ours.

All: God of grace,

Help us live and give in your kingdom of love,

Where all are included in your family,

And kindness is the air we breathe.

May these gifts be used for your work, not ours.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

AMEN

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

We pause to pray to God for the world, our community and one another.

HYMN  CH4 739                                                             The Church’s One Foundation

BENEDICTION We remain standing, if we are able, for the blessing.

Welcome to worship in Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church. Whether you join in the building or online, come every week, are here for the first time or the first time in a long time, a very warm welcome.

This service is live-streamed. Should you not wish to appear in the recording, please speak to our welcome team.

You’ll find tea, coffee, juice, ready for you after the service by the sofas, please grab a coffee or tea and then come back to your seats for the meeting.

Have You Noticed the Lanyards? You may have spotted some people around wearing lanyards. Anyone who is helping or mentioned in the notices will be wearing one, making them easy to find. If you have any questions, please ask anyone wearing a lanyard, and they will be happy to help.

Can you help? Unfortunately, for the second week in a row, we have no printed order of service. We are still looking for volunteers to give an hour or two a week to help print the orders of service. You don’t need to commit every week, as even once a month would be fantastic. Only basic computer skills are needed, and full instructions will be given. For more information, please email minister@bbcofs.org.uk.

WHAT’S ON TODAY

The Creche is open from the start of the service and can be used at any point during the service. Please ask at the door for more information.

Children are welcome in worship or at Sunday school today.

Busy Bags of Blesssing for different ages are available by the back doors of the halls leading out to the sofas. Please return the bags to the table as you leave.

Congregational meeting immediately after the service in the hall.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

Westblend! Come along to the West Halls in Bellshill from 10:00am every Tuesday for coffee, tea, cakes, toast and great company.

Bothwell Memory Café: meets every Tuesday in our Bothwell Centre for those living with dementia from 12:30 to 14:15, offering tea, coffee, a light lunch, and homemade baking.

Allovus meets this Thursday, from 11 am to 1.30 in the Church Centre in Bothwell, and you are invited to come and join the fun.

COMING SOON

Our next Baking Stall will take place in the church building between 10 am and 12 noon on Saturday, 14th November 2026.  More information to follow, but if anyone would like to join our Baking Team, please see Allison H or Dorothy-Anne.

Church of Scotland – National Day of Prayer – Saturday 31st October Along with other congregation across Scotland we will be taking part in the national prayer day with prayer stations and a quiet space to pray at our West Halls on Saturday 31st October from 10am to 12pm.  Come along and be the light in the darkness for our communities.

Alpha is coming to BBCofS

In the new year we will be running Alpha, a series of relaxed evenings exploring life, faith and the big questions, each one starting with a shared meal. It is planned to run on Monday evenings from 11 January 2027 for eleven weeks.

Good food is at the heart of Alpha, so we are looking for volunteers to help with the cooking. You don’t need to commit to all eleven weeks. If you can offer just one or two dates, that would be a great help. If you’d like to help, please speak to the Ministry team.

Buy your Hogmanay tickets – £10, £5 for children

See in the Bells with us! Live music, a ceilidh, and a floor waiting for you. Doors open at 20:30 at the West Halls, first dance at 21:00, last dance just before 01:00. Bring your own drinks (alcoholic or soft) and snacks, and bring your family and friends along for a night of fun as we dance our way from one year into the next. Tickets are £10 and are available from Mary and Graham, who will be wearing lanyards or email hogmanay@bbcofs.org.uk.

GIVING

Your generosity keeps our doors open and helps us share the Gospel within our parish and beyond. We ask God to bless all that is given and to guide us in using it for his will rather than our own.

If you would like to support the work and mission of Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church, a box is available at the door today for any coins or notes.

You are also welcome to use the contactless machine or scan the QR code to give digitally.

If you would prefer to give regularly by standing order, or to add Gift Aid to your giving at no cost to yourself, please speak to a member of the Finance Team or email finance@bbcofs.org.uk. To all who already give, thank you for your kindness and faithfulness.
