ORGAN PRELUDE

WORDS OF WELCOME AND NOTICES

CALL TO WORSHIP

We come to love and praise the Lord All: We rejoice for God sees us.

We return all we have to the Lord All: For the Lord is good, let us praise the Lord.

HYMN CH4 519                                                                                                    Love divine

PRAYERS OF APPROACH & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

ALL AGE TALK

ALL AGE SONG MP 880                                                                  Lord I come to you

1. Lord I come to You

Let my heart be changed, renewed

Flowing from the grace

That I found in You.

And Lord I’ve come to know

The weaknesses I see in me

Will be stripped away

By the power of Your love.

Hold me close…

2. Lord unveil my eyes

Let me see You face to face

The knowledge of Your love

As You live in me.

Lord renew my mind

As Your will unfolds in my life

In living every day

By the power of Your love.

Hold me close…

Hold me close, let Your love surround me;

Bring me near, draw me to Your side.

And as I wait, I’ll rise up like the eagle

And I will soar with You, Your Spirit leads me on

In the power of Your love.

1st BIBLE READING                                                                              Genesis 18:1-15

2nd BIBLE READING                                                                        Matthew 9:35-10:8

HYMN                                                                                             The God of Sarah Praise

                                                                                                            (Tune CH4 162)

1. The God of Sarah praise
the God of dreams long dead
who brings forth unexpected life,
disarming dread.
Though grief lasts through the night
joy rises with the sun
God leaves us laughing in surprise

at death undone.

2. The God of Abr’ham praise
the God of all who roam
who guides us into foreign lands
and makes our home.
When darkness shrouds our path
the stars as pledges shine
God’s covenant will be fulfilled
by love’s design.

3. The God of Hagar praise, the God of those oppressed,
who sees the lost and overlooked and calls them blessed.
Though wandering alone through deserts of despair
God leads us to a well of hope and meets us there.

SERMON

HYMN CH4 252                                                           As a fire is meant for burning

Welcome to worship in Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church. Whether you join in person or online, come every week, are here for the first time or the first time in a long time, a very warm welcome.

This service is live-streamed. Should you not wish to appear in the recording, please speak to our welcome team.

You’ll find tea, coffee, juice, ready for you after the service in the Church Centre. We’d love for you to stick around for a cup of something warm and a good chat.

Have You Noticed the Lanyards? You may have spotted some people around wearing lanyards. Anyone who is helping or mentioned in the notices will be wearing one, making them easy to find. If you have any questions, please ask anyone wearing a lanyard, and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Please note that Revd. Iain will be on annual leave from Friday, 26th June, returning on Monday, 13th July. During his absence, please contact David and Sally, the joint Session Clerks, by emailing sessionclerk@bbcofs.org.uk.

Please note that Mhairi will be on annual leave from the 15th June, returning on the 29th of June.

WHAT’S ON TODAY

The Creche is open from the start of the service and can be used at any point during the service. Please ask at the door for more information.

Sunday School is on this morning! Any children of primary school age are warmly invited to leave with their leaders after the all-age hymn. They will be based in the Church Centre and can be collected there at the end of the service.

After the Amen: Stewart is looking for a few volunteers to share, in just a few words, what you took away from this morning’s sermon. Please find him after the service if you are happy to help, or simply say yes if he approaches you!

FUNERAL NOTICE

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of John Gordon, who passed away on 1st June. A service of thanksgiving will be held at Bothwell Church on Thursday 18th June at 13:30, and all are warmly invited.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

Bothwell Memory Café: meets every Tuesday in our Bothwell Centre for those living with dementia from 12:30 to 14:15, offering tea, coffee, a light lunch, and homemade baking.

Allovus are going on their Summer trip to Callander on the 18th June. This will be their last meeting before the summer break; They start back on the 6th of August.

Join us next Sunday for Father’s Day, to celebrate the fathers and father figures in our church and in our lives. Bring along your dad or the person who has filled that role for you, and do not worry about forgetting a gift, as we have something to give them on the day!

Sunday school party next Sunday, after church, in the manse garden. Pizza and fun! It does not matter if you have joined us once or almost every week; we would love to see you there. All young people and their families are welcome. For more information, speak to one of the Sunday School volunteers.

NOTICES

Advance notice: From Sunday, 26th July, and throughout August, we will be exploring different seating arrangements in the church. Each Sunday, certain areas will be out of use as we try each arrangement in turn. At the end of August, there will be an opportunity to provide feedback to help shape how we use the space going forward.

The West Halls are now closed for planned renovations. During this time, both our West Blend and Sunday evening services will be on a break until the halls reopen. We look forward to welcoming you back to both when the work is complete, and we will keep you updated on progress along the way.
