WORDS OF WELCOME AND NOTICES
CALL TO WORSHIP
God who is One, you call us to be one.
All: May we be one with all who are made in your image.
God who is Three, you call us to be community.
All: May we find community with all who are called by your name.
God who calls each of us by name,
All: May we find our place in your eternal family.
HYMN CH4 740 For All the Saints
PRAYERS OF APPROACH & THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen
ALL AGE TALK
ALL AGE GWA 134 Called to Be Saints
Children are welcome to stay with us in church. Busy Bags of Blessings and books are available at the back of the church and by the sofas which has a soft area to play and games. Please feel free to worship in whatever way feels right for you.
- Called to be saints! To walk the pilgrim way,
To rule our hearts obedient by God’s grace,
That all our lives in what we do or say
May show Christ present here in time and space.
- Called to be saints! To blossom and bear fruit;
To sow the seeds of penitence and prayer,
That in our lives Christ’s beauty may take root
and come to flower in service and in care.
- Called to be saints! To build upon the rock,
The one foundation that is Christ alone,
One with the fellow-workers of Christ’s flock,
Together built into one corner stone.
- Called to be saints! To find our hidden Lord
Where conflict grows and sufferings increase,
To learn to speak the reconciling word
Which frees the love of Christ to work for peace.
- Called to be saints! The faithful in their day
Unite with us to keep our spirits strong,
While we who seek the will of God today
May hope to sing with them the eternal song.

OFFERING DEDICATION However we give, whether by standing order, by cash at the door, or electronically via the QR code or contactless machine, we offer it all to God.
Gracious God,
You have blessed us with so many good things.
All: May these gifts
Be used to open doors of welcome for all people,
So that they too may know
The joy of abundance and unity.
Amen.
HYMN CH4 742 Rejoice in God’s Saints, Today and All Days!
SERMON
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, we ask for your help, your power, your Spirit, that we may amend our lives and grow each day more fully into the image of Christ.
All: We confess that we fear what is different.
We confess that it is easier
to lock the doors of our community
than to receive those who do not look as we look,
or love as we love, or vote as we vote.
We confess that we have not lived out
your call to share in abundant life and unconditional love.
We believe
that you have the power
to turn us towards a more inclusive way of living,
so we ask you to do it.
Give us the courage to change.
Give us the energy, intelligence, imagination and love
to be your people in all we say and do. Amen.
HYMN GWA 216 Build a Longer Table (tune 2)
- Build a longer table, not a higher wall,
Feeding those who hunger, making room for all.
Feasting together, stranger turns to friend,
Christ breaks walls to pieces; false divisions end.
Christ breaks walls to pieces; false divisions end.
- Build a safer refuge, not a larger jail;
Where the weak find shelter, mercy will not fail.
For any place where justice is denied,
Christ will breach the jail wall, freeing all inside.
Christ will breach the jail wall, freeing all inside.
- Build a broader doorway, not a longer fence.
Love protects all people, sparing no expense.
When we embrace compassion more than fear,
Christ tears down our fences: all are welcome here.
Christ tears down our fences: all are welcome here.
- When we lived as exiles, refuges abroad,
Christ became our doorway to the reign of God.
So must our tables welcome those who roam.
None can be excluded; all must find a home.
None can be excluded; all must find a home.
COMMUNION
…So with the company of heaven and earth we sing your praises…
All sing: (tune CH4 769)
Holy, holy, holy, my heart, my heart adores you!
My heart is glad to say the words ‘You are holy, Lord.’
…The gifts of God for us, the children of God.
Everyone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ is invited to share at His table. For those worshipping with us in the building, the bread and non-alcoholic wine will be distributed in the pews. Please take a piece and pass it on to your neighbour. The bread in the glass dishes is gluten-free. When you have received the bread and the wine, you are welcome to eat and drink prayerfully in your own time, giving thanks to God.

Welcome to worship in Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church. Whether you join in the building or online, come every week, are here for the first time or the first time in a long time, a very warm welcome.
This service is live-streamed. Should you not wish to appear in the recording, please speak to our welcome team.
You’ll find tea, coffee, juice, ready for you after the service in the Church Centre. We’d love for you to stick around for a cup of something warm and a good chat.
Have You Noticed the Lanyards? You may have spotted some people around wearing lanyards. Anyone who is helping or mentioned in the notices will be wearing one, making them easy to find. If you have any questions, please ask anyone wearing a lanyard, and they will be happy to help.
Can you help? We are looking for volunteers to give an hour or two a week to help print the orders of service. You don’t need to commit every week, as even once a month would be fantastic. Only basic computer skills are needed, and full instructions will be given. For more information, please email minister@bbcofs.org.uk.
Messy Church needs help to share the the JOY of Christmas within our communities by delivering small gifts to our local nurseries. You can help by donating FUN SIZE bags and boxes (no lollipops). Thank you! For more information, please see Helen McGregor.
WHAT’S ON TODAY
The Creche is open from the start of the service and can be used at any point during the service. Please ask at the door for more information.
Children are welcome in worship. Busy Bags of Blesssing for different ages are available by the entrance. Books for older children are on the table behind the AV desk, and there’s Duplo, magnets, cars and a soft play area by the sofas at the front. Please feel free to do whatever works for you and your family. Please return the bags to the table as you leave.

Alpha is coming to BBCofS
In the new year we will be running Alpha, a series of relaxed evenings exploring life, faith and the big questions, each one starting with a shared meal. It is planned to run on Monday evenings from 11 January 2027 for eleven weeks.
Good food is at the heart of Alpha, so we are looking for volunteers to help with the cooking. You don’t need to commit to all eleven weeks. If you can offer just one or two dates, that would be a great help. If you’d like to help, please speak to the Ministry team.
Buy your Hogmanay tickets – £10, £5 for children
See in the Bells with us! Live music, a ceilidh, and a floor waiting for you. Doors open at 20:30 at the West Halls, first dance at 21:00, last dance just before 01:00. Bring your own drinks (alcoholic or soft) and snacks, and bring your family and friends along for a night of fun as we dance our way from one year into the next. Tickets are £10 and are available from Mary and Graham, who will be wearing lanyards or email hogmanay@bbcofs.org.uk.
GIVING
Your generosity keeps our doors open and enables us to share the Gospel within our parish and further afield. We ask God to bless all that is given and to guide us in using it for his will rather than our own.
If you would like to support the work and mission of Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church, a box is available at the door today for any coins or notes. You are also welcome to use the contactless machine or scan the QR code to give digitally. If you would prefer to give regularly by standing order, or to add Gift Aid to your giving at no cost to yourself, please speak to a member of the Finance Team or email finance@bbcofs.org.uk. To all who already give, thank you for your kindness and faithfulness.
