PRAYERS OF APPROACH & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

LET’S WELCOME STEWART

ALL AGE TALK

HYMN MP1105                                                                                  See what a morning

1.  See, what a morning,

gloriously bright,
with the dawning of hope

in Jerusalem;
folded the grave clothes,

tomb filled with light,
as the angels announce

Christ is risen!
See God’s salvation plan,
wrought in love, borne in pain,

paid in sacrifice,
fulfilled in Christ the Man,
for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

2.  See Mary weeping,

‘Where is He laid?’
as in sorrow she turns

from the empty tomb;
hears a voice speaking,

calling her name;
it’s the Master,

the Lord raised to life again!
The voice that spans the years,
speaking life, stirring hope,

bringing peace to us,
will sound till He appears,
for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

3.  One with the Father, Ancient of days,

through the Spirit, who clothes faith with certainty,
honour and blessing, glory and praise
to the King crowned with power and authority!
And we are raised with Him,

death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered;
and we shall reign with Him,
for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

FIRST READING                                                                                     Matthew 28:1-10

SECOND READING                                                                                       John 21:1-14

SERMON

HYMN CH4 459                                                            Crown him with many crowns

1. Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne.
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless king
through all eternity.

2 Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o’er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
His glories now we sing
who died and rose on high,
who died eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.

3 Crown him the Lord of love;
behold his hands and side,
rich wounds, yet visible above,
in beauty glorified;
All hail, Redeemer, hail!

they praise shall never, never fail

throughout eternity.

COMMUNION

Please remain standing if possible, as we say the words together on the next page.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Let us affirm our faith

All: We believe in Jesus Christ,

born of the Virgin Mary,

Son of the living God,

maker and sustainer of earth, sea and sky.

Jesus healed the sick, served the poor,

and proclaimed the kingdom of God.

Condemned by the religious, crucified by the state,

he bore our sins and died so that we might live.

On the third day he rose from the dead,

victorious over sin and death, and he lives and reigns forevermore.

He pours out his Holy Spirit upon his people and sends us forth,

east and west, north and south.

We commit ourselves to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

to one another as his people, and to his mission in the world,

trusting in the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Please be seated.

…So with the company of heaven and earth we sing your praises

ALL SING

Holy, Holy, my heart, my heart adores you!

My heart is glad to say the words, ‘You are Holy, Lord.’

(the prayer continues)

…The gifts of God for us, God’s children.

Everyone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ is welcome at His table.For those worshipping with us today in the building, the bread and non-alcoholic wine will be distributed through the pews. Please take a piece and pass it along to your neighbour. The bread in the glass dishes is gluten-free. Once you have received both the bread and the wine, please feel free to eat and drink in your own time, prayerfully giving thanks to God.

SHARING THE PEACE

HYMN CH4 419                                                                               Thine be the glory

1. Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won;

angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,

kept the folded grave-clothes, where thy body lay.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.

2. Lo! Jesus meets us,

risen from the tomb;

lovingly he greets us,

scatters fear and gloom;

let the Church with gladness hymns of triumph sing,

for her Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting.

3. No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of Life;

life is naught without thee:

aid us in our strife;

make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love

bring us safe through Jordan

to thy home above.

CLOSING RESPONSES FOLLOWED BY BLESSING

Remember the Good News that we have received and proclaimed this day, the Good News in which we stand and through which we are being saved. All: We will remember and hold tightly to the truth we proclaim with joy!

Christ died for our sins, just as the scriptures said that he would. But the story doesn’t end in death. Christ was raised on the third day, just as it was promised! All: We are witnesses to this Good News.

God commands that we do not keep this news to ourselves!

All: We will testify to all that Christ is Lord!

Christ is risen!  Alleluia!  All: Christ is risen, indeed!  Amen!
