West Halls

Bellshill West was opened in 1877 as a Mission Church by the congregation of St Brides Church Bothwell, which was later to be known as Bothwell Parish Church. The purpose of the church was to serve the coal-mining community of Bothwellhaugh.

Due to the success of the new congregation, it was quickly made a Parish Church in its own right on the 18th of March 1878.

The church became Bellshill West following the union of the Church of Scotland with the United Free Church in 1929.

In 2025, the decision was made not to keep the original Church building but instead to invest in the Halls and keep them open for the community, Church Mission and worship. The halls were opened in 1955 and dedicated to Revd. Bowyer who had been instrumental in raising the funds for the halls during his ministry.

Today we are proud to continue the work of all those who went before us as we continue to open the doors at our West Halls to serve the community.
